January 3, 2026: Petition for independence officially issued – signature collection can begin across Alberta with the help of canvassers!
We currently have applications for hundreds of canvassers into Elections Alberta and are waiting for their approval and their badges to be distributed to begin signature collection.
The 120-day collection period for the independence petition runs until May 2, 2026. During this time, canvassers must gather approximately 177,000 valid signatures, which is 10% of the eligible voters from the last provincial election in Alberta.
